Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday announced that the work on plugging Budameru rivulet's third breach is progressing and expressed confidence that it would be completed soon.

Budameru, a rivulet that flows through Vijayawada city, caused severe flooding after torrential downpours from a depression in the Bay of Bengal. This resulted in significant inundation across multiple areas in the city.

Addressing efforts to curb the third breach, Naidu said, "Budameru third breach plugging work is at a crucial stage, and it will be completed soon. Water will not enter Vijayawada. By Sunday evening, the floodwaters will have completely receded from the streets," he assured in an official press release.

The Chief Minister conducted a teleconference on Saturday with ministers, collectors, and senior officials to review relief efforts in flood-hit areas. He instructed them to work diligently even on Vinayaka Chaviti, considering the hardships faced by the people.

Emphasizing the urgency of relief work, Naidu highlighted the need to focus on Vijayawada's sixth division due to complaints about the lack of essential provisions. Officials were also directed to expedite the assessment of damages to flood victims' homes and complete sanitization efforts promptly.
