Congress Unveils Pro-Farmer Manifesto for J&K Assembly Elections

On Monday, the Congress unveiled its manifesto for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, promising significant welfare measures for farmers, women, and the youth.
The manifesto, titled 'Haath Badlega Halaat,' primarily features crop insurance against natural calamities and a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 72 per kilogram for apples. This was announced by AICC chief spokesperson Pawan Khera and PCC president Tariq Hameed Karra at the party office.
''We will provide an additional financial support of Rs 4,000 per year to landless, tenant, and land-owning farming households. Additionally, 99-year leases will be arranged for landless farmers cultivating state land,'' stated Khera.
The manifesto also commits Rs 2,500 crore for district-level irrigation projects to ensure full irrigation coverage in Jammu and Kashmir. For youths, the party has proposed an unemployment allowance of up to Rs 3,500 per month for one year to qualified candidates and vowed to fill one lakh vacant government posts with a new job calendar within 30 days.
