Destructive Typhoon Yagi Halts Life in Hong Kong and Hits South China

A powerful typhoon, Yagi, swept south of Hong Kong, causing severe disruptions in the financial hub. The storm, with winds reaching 230 kilometers per hour, forced the closure of trading, banking services, and schools.

Yagi prompted more than 250 people to seek refuge and led to the cancellation of over 100 flights. Heavy rain and strong winds caused significant damage before conditions began to improve on Friday.

In anticipation of Yagi making landfall in Hainan, a Chinese island province, residents took extensive precautions. Sandbag barriers were erected, windows reinforced, and transportation and business activities suspended.
