A destructive wildfire in the foothills of San Bernardino National Forest, exacerbated by triple-digit temperatures, prompted evacuations east of Los Angeles on Saturday.
Known as the Line Fire, the blaze has scorched 11 square miles of grass and chaparral since it began Thursday evening. A thick cloud of smoke now blankets the region.
As of Saturday afternoon, over 500 firefighters were battling the uncontrolled blaze, supported by water-dropping helicopters and aircraft. Although no injuries or structural damages have been reported, the fire's cause remains under investigation.
