Ahead of the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela, political tensions rise as Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav criticized the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for alleged lapses in event preparations. Yadav claims his party, when in power, had efficiently organized such gatherings without issues, highlighting a difference in administration effectiveness.

While the state government has yet to officially respond to Yadav's remarks, officials previously declared progress in infrastructure, sanitation, and security measures for the Mela. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected a bridge in Prayagraj, expressing confidence in the event's cultural significance and expectation to surpass past editions in its grandeur.

The clash continued as Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad accused the BJP of chaotic arrangements, emphasizing the need for respect towards the saints at the festival. Meanwhile, BJP MP Dinesh Sharma praised CM Yogi's efforts in promoting religious tourism, predicting an influx of 40 crore visitors, which he says will boost the economy significantly.
