Swift Evacuation on Tiruchirappalli-Karaikal Train After Smoke Sighting

Passengers on a train traveling from Tiruchirappalli to Karaikal were evacuated after the train's guard noticed smoke coming from one of the coaches, railway officials reported on Saturday.
A statement from Southern Railway Tiruchchirappali stated that train number 06880 departed from Trichy at 8.25 am and reached Thiruvarmbur at 9 am, where the guard observed smoke emanating from the last car.
The guard promptly stopped the train and alerted passengers, leading to a safe evacuation. Station Master and railway staff at Thiruverumbur were informed and used fire extinguishers to control the smoke. Senior officials, led by Division Railway Manager MS Anbalagan, assessed the situation and ensured all passengers' safety. Passengers later boarded the Velankanni special train. Officials confirmed the situation is now under control.
