Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that the Centre will dispatch a team to evaluate the extensive damage caused by recent floods.

At least 26 people have perished, with 1.37 lakh left homeless, among a total of 17 lakh affected, officials report.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured that a central team will soon visit the flood-stricken areas for a thorough assessment, Saha informed reporters during a Janmashtami event on Monday.

The state government plans to present an accurate portrayal of the devastation to the visiting team.

Saha expressed gratitude towards Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav and UP CM Yogi Adityanath for their financial contributions towards relief efforts.

Yogi Adityanath has pledged Rs 10 crore, while Madhya Pradesh is contributing Rs 20 crore for restoration.

Speaking to the media, Revenue Secretary Brijesh Pandey mentioned that district magistrates have been tasked with assessing the damage.

The floods have severely damaged infrastructure, including roads, buildings, and farmlands. The damage is estimated at Rs 15,000 crore.

Although water levels are receding, approximately 70,000 people continue to reside in 471 relief camps.
