A total of 117 smart city projects have been completed in Jammu, while 10 others, including the ambitious Tawi River Front development project, are in various stages of execution, according to an official statement on Monday.

The information was disclosed during a meeting chaired by Devansh Yadav, the newly appointed Jammu Municipal Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL).

Established in August 2017, JSCL aims to rejuvenate the city of temples with modern initiatives, including the Tawi River Front project, modeled after the Sabarmati riverfront in Gujarat. Its objective is to boost the aesthetic value of the river by enhancing natural purifying features and promoting sustainable urban infrastructure.

Yadav emphasized at the meeting that the success of the smart cities mission relies not just on the timely completion of projects but also on their capacity to meet the real needs and aspirations of the populace.

The Tawi River Front Project is a key initiative focused on revitalizing the Tawi River and its vicinity. Yadav also inspected the Electric-Bus Depot in Bhagwati Nagar, assessing a fleet of 95 buses operating across 24 routes, with five reserved ones.

The fleet serves 18 intracity routes covering Jammu's urban core and six intercity routes connecting adjacent areas. Yadav also directed officials to examine the feasibility of introducing a dedicated electric bus service for women.
