The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has initiated a comprehensive upgrade of all water boosting tanks within its jurisdiction to enhance drinking water quality, according to an official.

GMDA CEO A. Sreenivas recently met with a delegation from South Korean firm Hansamkora Limited to discuss lining the tanks with stainless steel. This measure is expected to increase the tanks' lifespan and reduce water contamination, Sreenivas explained.

Sreenivas emphasized that this innovative project will significantly benefit Gurugram residents by ensuring access to safe and high-quality drinking water. A joint venture involving GMDA, the Municipal Corporation (MCG), and Hansamkora Ltd has been planned, with both agencies set to pilot stainless steel coating in one tank each as a first-of-its-kind initiative in India.
