Rescue and Relief Operations Underway in Flood-Hit Telangana District

In a swift and coordinated rescue operation, disaster management personnel saved approximately 40 individuals stranded in agricultural fields following a breach-induced flood in the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district of Telangana. The operation was executed with the aid of two helicopters since Thursday evening.

Authorities also set up a relief camp where around 150 displaced people received food. A revenue official indicated that the breach at the Peddavagu irrigation project, caused by heavy rains, led to water flowing downstream into Andhra Pradesh. The extent of agricultural damage will be assessed after further evaluation.

Elsewhere in the state, multiple rivulets are in spate, prompting the IMD to issue a red alert, predicting severe rainfall in various districts. In response to the flooding in Bhadradri-Kothagudem, state Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy mandated that chief engineers remain at their posts and monitor water inflows to prevent further damage.
