More than 750 villages in Uttar Pradesh are currently submerged as rivers continue to overflow, officials from the state's relief department reported.

In the past 24 hours, eight individuals have died due to rain-related incidents, including seven who drowned and one who was struck by lightning.

The state recorded an average rainfall of 7.4 mm during this period, leading to flooding in 776 villages across 17 districts. About 3,90,455 residents have been displaced, and the flooding has affected 1,15,09 domestic cattle as well.

Relief Commissioner Naveen Kumar stated that the NDRF and SDRF teams are working with local authorities to mitigate the impact, and 996 flood shelters have been established for those affected.
