The 2027 Test match between Australia and England will take centre stage at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), commemorating 150 years since the inaugural Test match in 1877. Australia triumphed in that match by 45 runs and repeated the feat in the 1977 Centenary Test.

Cricket Australia (CA) has announced a series of hosting rights for international matches, spanning from 2024-25 to 2030-31. These strategic partnerships with State and Territory Governments are aimed at providing certainty for fans while expanding cricket events nationwide, according to the ICC.

The MCG will continue its tradition of hosting the Boxing Day Test, while the Sydney Cricket Ground will stage the New Year's match. The Adelaide Oval is set to host a 'Christmas Test' every December starting from the 2025/26 season, including both Day-Night and Day matches. Perth Stadium will host the summer's first Men's Test until the 2026/27 season.

Discussing the situation in Brisbane, Cricket Australia Chairman Mike Baird highlighted infrastructure challenges. 'In Brisbane it is harder [to plan] because of the infrastructure. There is just uncertainty, so we're not sure of the long-term solution. What we do know is the Gabba has a use for life that ends in 2030. We need a solution and are working with the AFL on a long-term venue that can support Queensland Cricket and Australian cricket for years to come,' Baird told ESPNcricinfo.
