Tragedy at Kashmere Gate: TB Patient Commits Suicide by Jumping Before Train

A 68-year-old named Sunil Gupta, suffering from tuberculosis, allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train at Kashmere Gate metro station. The incident disrupted metro services temporarily. A suicide note was found, and an autopsy has been ordered.

A 68-year-old tuberculosis patient allegedly committed suicide on Thursday by jumping before a train at the Kashmere Gate metro station on the Red Line, officials said. A senior police officer said the man has been identified as Sunil Gupta, a resident of Chawari Bazar.

According to the victim's brother, Gupta had been battling tuberculosis for several years and had spent over Rs 6 lakh on treatment. The incident happened at approximately 11:16 am when Gupta allegedly jumped in front of an approaching train. He was retrieved from the tracks and transported to the nearest hospital around 12:04 pm following police clearance, the DMRC official stated.

Train services were disrupted on the Red Line connecting Rithala in Delhi to Shaheed Sthal in Ghaziabad. Operations ran in short loops between specific sections, but normal service was restored by 12:04 pm. A suicide note was found and the body has been sent for an autopsy.
