In a contentious move, Congress' Ghulam Ahmad Mir vowed that if voted to power, his party would deliver gas cylinders at Rs 450 to all Jharkhand citizens, regardless of their status as infiltrators. The controversial promise was made at a rally in Chandrapura, sparking immediate backlash.
The BJP condemned the statement, labeling it 'anti-national' and accusing Congress of engaging in appeasement and polarization tactics. BJP leaders allege that the JMM-led coalition has been legitimizing infiltration in Jharkhand to secure votes, deepening tensions as the election progresses.
Prominent BJP figure Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticized the offer, asserting it encourages infiltration. Meanwhile, Yogi Adityanath warned against infringing on tribal rights. With the second polling phase imminent, political rhetoric has reached a fever pitch.
