Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis clearly stated there is no speculation regarding Nawab Malik's role if the Mahayuti alliance triumphs in the forthcoming assembly elections. He reaffirmed that the BJP is not backing Malik, emphasizing the baseless nature of any such predictions.
The BJP, part of the Mahayuti alliance with Ajit Pawar's NCP and Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, opposes Malik's nomination. Fadnavis highlighted ongoing discussions about cross nominations and efforts to persuade rebel candidates to withdraw. The alliance aims to smooth over internal disputes before resuming robust campaigning post-Diwali.
Fadnavis addressed the issue of BJP member Gopal Shetty's independent nomination, expressing confidence in Shetty's party loyalty. Meanwhile, the BJP is exploring ways to support Amit Thackeray against Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena candidate in the Mahim constituency. The resolution of these political maneuvers remains crucial as elections approach.
