In a heated address, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari lambasted the Congress for insinuating that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plans to amend the country's Constitution. Speaking in support of BJP candidate Charansingh Thakur in Katol, Gadkari accused the Congress of having previously distorted the Constitution and imposing the Emergency in 1975 for self-serving motives.
Gadkari reaffirmed the BJP's commitment to upholding the values enshrined by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, referencing the Supreme Court's verdict in the Kesavananda Bharti case to underline the inviolable nature of the Constitution's core features. He criticized former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's alterations during the Emergency and urged voters to move beyond caste-based politics as Maharashtra prepares for assembly elections.
Highlighting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's vision of governance, Gadkari exhorted citizens to embody 'Ram Rajya' through the selection of honest leaders who transcend caste and division. He praised the Mahayuti government for its inclusive welfare initiatives, challenging claims of communal exclusion. Gadkari called for a rejection of corrupt, nepotistic political practices, emphasizing merit over identity.
