In the run-up to the Jharkhand Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pratul Shahdeo has described the electoral battle as a "peculiar election," asserting that voters are eager to dismantle what he deems the "most corrupt" government in the state's history. In a statement to ANI, Shahdeo accused the administration under Chief Minister Hemant Soren of failing the electorate.
Shahdeo criticized Soren for not fulfilling major promises, such as 25 lakh jobs and stipends for college graduates. He further accused the administration of being embroiled in numerous scandals, including those related to coal, stone, and age scams. The BJP leader expressed optimism about achieving a majority in the first phase of the election process.
Heightening political tensions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted rallies claiming the Congress and its allies are fostering division among communities in Jharkhand. Allegations also surfaced against these parties for attempting to engineer divides among SCs, STs, and OBCs, an effort Modi warned citizens to be cautious of. Meanwhile, the Congress has lodged complaints against the BJP for allegedly spreading misleading information about its leaders, potentially violating electoral laws.
