Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, recently shared his ambivalence towards the residence at 10, Janpath in Lutyens' Delhi, an address deeply linked to a tragic chapter in his family's history.
Gandhi opened up during a conversation with his nephew, Raihan Rajiv Vadra, while they observed workers preparing the house for Diwali. The dialogue revealed that his late father, Rajiv Gandhi, was residing there when he was assassinated in 1991 in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
The 10, Janpath bungalow, once allocated to Rajiv Gandhi in 1990, later became the home of his wife, Sonia Gandhi. Rahul initially resided at 12, Tughlaq Lane as an MP but returned to 10 Janpath following his brief disqualification from the Lok Sabha, continuing to reside there as MP of Rae Bareli.
