Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has strongly criticized individuals whom he accuses of dividing society along caste, regional, and linguistic lines, equating them to the mythological figures Ravan and Duryodhan. In a celebration of Diwali with the forest residents of Vantangiya village, the Chief Minister delivered a stern warning to anyone attempting to disturb the peace or engage in crimes against women.
Adityanath's comments were seen as a veiled attack on the previous Samajwadi Party government, as he highlighted the threats these divisive elements pose, including jeopardizing the safety of women, land encroachment, and inciting riots. He recalled the pre-2017 era, warning that such chaos-makers could resurface if given a chance.
On his visit to the area, the Chief Minister inaugurated 74 development projects across various gram panchayats, totaling Rs 185 crore. Extending Diwali greetings, he urged the community to stay vigilant and united against forces that sow discord, emphasizing the potential consequences for those disrupting festivities.
