Political tensions in Maharashtra have intensified as NCP leader Anil Deshmukh publicly criticized Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding his comments on the murder of businessman Mansukh Hiren. The case, linked to the Antilia bomb scare, has stirred controversy over alleged political and police misconduct.
At an ABP news event, Fadnavis questioned whether Deshmukh, who served as state home minister when the incident occurred, anticipated Hiren's death. Deshmukh responded by challenging Fadnavis's grasp of police protocol, highlighting potential bias in the investigation under the BJP leader's tenure.
Deshmukh further alleged that key figures in the case, police officer Sachin Waze and former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh, were closely associated with Fadnavis. The NCP leader accused Singh of masterminding the cover-up and receiving protection from the BJP leadership, a claim that Fadnavis has yet to address publicly.
