Waris Pathan, representing the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has officially entered the race for the Bhiwandi West seat in the forthcoming Maharashtra assembly polls. He mentioned pursuing an alliance with the Maha Vikas Aghadi but received no response, leading to AIMIM's independent candidacy.
Speaking with the media, Pathan expressed disappointment over the lack of collaboration with the Maha Vikas Aghadi. He highlighted the party's willingness to defeat the BJP while underscoring AIMIM's commitment to strengthening democracy through active electoral participation. Pathan is confident in gaining the Bhiwandi electorate's support to secure a place in the Maharashtra Assembly.
Pathan faces competition from BJP's Mahesh Chougule and Congress's Dayanand Motiram Choraghe. In the larger picture, AIMIM's Maharashtra leader, Imtiaz Jaleel, has also filed his nomination for the Aurangabad East seat. Jaleel criticized the opposition's INDIA bloc for underestimating AIMIM's impact, emphasizing local issues over national sentiment in the polls scheduled for November 20.
