Mizoram Women Voters Lead as Draft Rolls Reveal Gender Gap

The recent draft voter list published in Mizoram highlights a significant gender gap among the electorate. According to the data, the state has a total of 8,58,534 registered voters; women voters are in the majority, outnumbering their male counterparts by 26,800.
This special summary revision of the voter list intends to incorporate individuals who will reach voting age by specific dates in 2025. Aizawl district, encompassing 12 assembly constituencies, boasts the highest voter count at 2,88,962. Contrastingly, Hnahthial district, introduced in 2019, shows the lowest voter population with 16,276 persons on the electoral roll.
Residents can submit claims or objections regarding the draft list from October 29 to November 28. The finalized voter rolls are expected to be released in January. Mizoram comprises 40 assembly constituencies and houses 1,301 polling stations.
