Kalpetta witnessed a grand spectacle as thousands, including UDF leaders and workers, turned out for a massive roadshow welcoming Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The event marked her entry into the electoral fray as she prepared to file nomination papers for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election.

Arriving with her mother, Sonia Gandhi, on Tuesday night, Priyanka spearheaded the roadshow from the new bus stand in Kalpetta, flanked by her brother, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition. Her husband, Robert Vadra, and one of their children were also present, sharing the stage with senior party and IUML leaders.

The by-election was necessitated after Rahul Gandhi vacated the Wayanad seat. Priyanka is set to contest against LDF's Sathyan Mokeri and BJP's Navya Haridas in the upcoming polls.
