Dubai has affirmed its position as a leader in controlling carbon emissions, with a significant 29% reduction reported at the 84th meeting of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. The virtual meeting was led by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and attended by prominent officials, including Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer.
This progress aligns with Dubai's ambitious strategy to slash emissions by 30% by 2030. Initiatives from various entities, such as Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Municipality, contribute significantly to this achievement within the framework set forth by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.
The Council has committed to developing an effective regulatory framework to drive ongoing projects in solar energy, water conservation, and green mobility. These efforts are complemented by a new program to involve the private sector in expanding Dubai's electric vehicle charging infrastructure, further reinforcing the city's sustainable development goals.
