AAP Backs JKNC as Omar Abdullah Poised to Lead J&K Government
Aam Aadmi Party has pledged support to the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, following its victory in the Union Territory's assembly elections. JKNC's Omar Abdullah has been elected as the leader of the Legislative Party and seeks to form a unified government with Congress and independent MLAs.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced on Friday its decision to support the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) after the NC-Congress alliance won a decisive victory in the recent assembly elections. A formal letter of support has been submitted by AAP to the Lieutenant Governor.
AAP's presence in Jammu and Kashmir includes Mehraj Malik, who secured the Doda assembly constituency with a 4,538 vote lead over BJP's Gajay Singh Rana. The NC-Congress alliance achieved an absolute majority, clinching 49 seats—42 by the National Conference and 6 by Congress.
Omar Abdullah has been unanimously chosen as the leader of JKNC's Legislative Party. He expressed gratitude to the party members for their trust and reiterated talks with the Congress for additional support. Abdullah assured that the new government would represent all citizens, regardless of their voting choices.
