On Thursday, Omar Abdullah expressed his gratitude to the National Conference (NC) legislators for selecting him as their leader, enabling him to take steps towards forming a government in Jammu and Kashmir.

Abdullah informed the press that the NC legislature party had convened to elect a leader, and he was honored to receive their trust and support. As the newly elected leader, he is prepared to stake a claim for forming the government.

Abdullah also mentioned that four independent MLAs are backing the NC, raising the party's strength to 46. The NC awaits Congress's decision on support, potentially solidifying their comfortable majority in the 95-member state assembly.
