In a fervent display of political dissent, AIADMK members organized a day-long fast at Palanganatham on Wednesday, condemning the ruling DMK party for its unfulfilled electoral promises.
Leading the fast, former State Minister R B Udayakumar criticized the DMK as an 'anti-people' government, urging for a new administration under AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami. Udayakumar specifically targeted the DMK regarding five fatalities following an air show at Marina Beach, attributing them to government negligence in providing adequate resources like drinking water.
Echoing his sentiments, former Minister Sellur Raju cited a 2003 event under then-Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's leadership as a successful contrast, claiming no casualties. Raju suggested the incident at Marina Beach could mark the beginning of a rift within the DMK's coalition.
