Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, along with former party chief Rahul Gandhi, held a strategic meeting with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday. The gathering at Kharge's residence focused on preparing for the impending Assembly polls in Jharkhand.
This meeting followed the Congress' unexpected defeat in the Haryana Assembly elections, and amid talks of tough negotiations by INDIA bloc allies for upcoming ballots in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Sources indicate both Congress and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) aim to finalize a seat-sharing agreement promptly.
The shifting political landscape sees Congress, JMM, Rashtriya Janata Dal, and Left parties striving to retain power in Jharkhand, challenged by the BJP's aggressive campaign efforts. The opposition's dissatisfaction was voiced by Shiv Sena (UBT) and other parties, urging Congress to improve ally cooperation.
