Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the United Nations General Assembly, urging the United States to begin a new era in its relations with Iran.
Citing criticisms of the US military presence in the region, sanctions, and the killing of Gen. Qassem Soleimani in 2020, Pezeshkian called for the recognition of Iran's security concerns and for collaborative efforts on common issues.
Pezeshkian emphasized Iran's resilience and readiness for economic, political, and security cooperation with world powers, while also calling for international efforts to lift sanctions and promote peace, including a cease-fire in Lebanon. He also reaffirmed Iran's stance against the Russia-Ukraine war and advocated for a peaceful resolution.
