The Congress party has raised serious concerns over the Adani Group's establishment of a subsidiary in China, warning that the conglomerate's ventures could compromise India's national security and territorial integrity.
On Tuesday, Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government of failing to take appropriate economic measures against China. Ramesh highlighted what he described as Modi's misleading statement in June 2020, which he claimed weakened India's stance on Chinese territorial encroachments.
Ramesh also pointed to Adani's controversial overseas investments, alleging that the group's interests have often conflicted with India's national interests. He cited cases in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Kenya, and Australia, where Adani's business activities have reportedly been detrimental to India's foreign policy objectives.
