Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urged the public to stand against divisive and destructive forces intent on fracturing society under the guise of unity. Speaking at the Grand Steps of Vidhana Soudha for the inaugural historic human chain movement on International Democracy Day, Siddaramaiah emphasized celebrating the Constitution's pluralistic values in everyday life.

He stressed the necessity of defeating divisive conspiracies and fortifying democracy, mentioning that India had early forms of democratic systems during Buddha and Basavanna's time, with the "Anubhava Mantapa" symbolizing early democratic institutions. Reflecting on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's speech from 1949, Siddaramaiah stated true political freedom is meaningful only with economic and social democracy.

The Chief Minister underscored the ongoing efforts to teach constitutional values in Karnataka's schools and colleges, highlighting that inequality hampers the full realization of political freedom. He envisioned a Karnataka and India thriving in peace and equality, free from discrimination, achieved through government initiatives empowering the poor and middle classes across all castes and religions.

Condemning forces that misuse unity and oppose social justice, Siddaramaiah emphasized the need to protect the rights of women, Dalits, and backward communities. He also accused the NDA of obstructing pro-poor programs and being against the poor and middle class.

Over 2 million participants formed a human chain to send a strong message to destructive forces, reinforcing human unity. Democracy ambassadors like Harekala Hajabba, sanitation workers Nagalakshmi and Manjula, and transgender activist Priyanka stood beside the CM, symbolizing Democracy Day's spirit. The event, chaired by MLA Rizwan Arshad, saw attendance from Basavaraj Horatti, Rudrappa Lamani, and several ministers including H.C. Mahadevappa and Priyank Kharge.
