Prashant Kishor, a political strategist-turned-activist, declared on Thursday that Jan Suraaj, a political party set to be formed soon, will contest 'all 243 seats' in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. At a press conference in Purnea district, Kishor stated that the party will be launched on October 2 with the active support of over one crore people in the state, eliminating the need for any alliance.
Kishor, a known critic of Bihar's prohibition law, vowed that the new party would 'scrap the ban on liquor within an hour of forming its government'. He labeled the prohibition as a 'sham' and claimed it leads to illegal home deliveries of alcohol, costing the state Rs 20,000 crore in potential excise revenue while benefiting politicians and bureaucrats.
Blaming Nitish Kumar and his predecessor Lalu Prasad for Bihar's problems, Kishor asserted that Congress and BJP were also complicit. He criticized Rahul Gandhi's reservation stance, questioning its consistency with his previous demands for a caste census during the recent Lok Sabha polls.
