Assam Police on Wednesday repelled another illegal attempt to enter India by a Bangladeshi national, as confirmed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. This incident adds to the 18 such cases handled this month.
Sarma commended the quick response of the Assam Police, stating, "Our forces are on high alert at the border and we will prevent any (sic) attempt of infiltration into Indian territory. Good job Team!"
The Border Security Force (BSF) and Assam Police have intensified their vigilance along the 1,885-kilometers long Indo-Bangladesh border, spurred by political turmoil in Bangladesh. The immigrants typically aim to reach southern Indian cities for employment opportunities in the textile industry.
