Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday pledged to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir after the assembly elections, marking the first polls under the national flag and Constitution since the abrogation of Article 370 by the Modi government.

Shah accused the Congress-National Conference alliance of attempting to revive the 'old system', asserting that the NDA government will prevent terrorism, 'autonomy', and any injustice against communities, including Gujjars, Pahari, Bakerwals, and Dalits, who received reservations from the BJP dispensation.

During his two-day visit to Jammu to boost the BJP's election campaign for the upcoming three-phase assembly elections commencing on September 18, Shah released the party manifesto and chaired meetings with senior leaders to strategize the campaign. In a rally, he highlighted the significance of the elections happening for the first time under one national flag and Constitution. Shah accused the National Conference and the Congress of attempting to reignite terrorism in the region and asserted confidence in the BJP forming the next government.
