Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Thursday alleged that BJP leaders have a tendency to demean opposition figures. "The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is handling the inquiry into the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case. The culprit has been arrested and the Supreme Court is overseeing the probe. I urge BJP leaders, who are making defamatory statements against the state government, to establish their own court," Alvi remarked while speaking to ANI.

Previously, a letter purportedly signed by former Principal of RG Kar Hospital, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, emerged indicating attempts to alter the crime scene where a trainee doctor was raped and murdered. BJP has reiterated their call for the Chief Minister's resignation, emphasizing the need for an impartial investigation.

The letter, dated August 10, instructed the Executive Engineer to promptly repair and renovate the on-duty Doctors' Rooms and attached toilets in various departments of RG Kar Hospital, Kolkata. According to the letter, there were deficiencies in these facilities. BJP West Bengal General Secretary Locket Chatterjee criticized the Kolkata police, claiming they had previously accused citizens of spreading false information and are now guilty of it themselves.

Locket Chatterjee called for an investigation into Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging the rape and murder of the trainee doctor was an organized crime. Purulia BJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato wrote to the CBI Director, pressing for the arrest of DC Indira Mukherjee and other Kolkata Police officials for tampering with evidence in the RG Kar case.

The trainee doctor's body was discovered in the hospital's seminar room on August 9, sparking nationwide protests. A civic volunteer was arrested shortly thereafter, and the CBI detained Dr. Sandip Ghosh on charges of financial misconduct at the medical institution. (ANI)
