President Droupadi Murmu awarded National Awards to teachers from across India at a New Delhi ceremony commemorating Teachers Day. She underscored the necessity for educators to mold citizens who are not only well-educated but also sensitive, honest, and enterprising.
She stressed that life's success lies in working for others' welfare, advocating for compassion and ethical conduct as essential values to be imparted by teachers. Murmu highlighted teachers' critical role in any educational system's success.
"Teaching is a sacred mission of human development," she stated, urging teachers to recognize and nurture each child's unique talents beyond academic achievements.
The President also noted that the respect and status of women in society reflect its development. She urged educators and parents to instill respect for women in both words and actions among children.
Quoting Rabindranath Tagore, she emphasized continuous learning for educators. Murmu concluded by asserting that great teachers with global mindsets and world-class skills are essential in creating a developed nation, vowing that today's students will shape a prospering India.
