JJP leader and former Haryana deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala officially entered the race for the upcoming October 5 elections by filing his nomination from Uchana Kalan in Jind district on Thursday.
Dushyant Chautala, aged 36, seeks re-election and was accompanied by his mother, JJP MLA Naina Chautala, while submitting his nomination papers. In the 2019 elections, he had secured a victory over Prem Lata, the spouse of veteran leader Birender Singh. Birender Singh and his son Brijendra Singh, a former Hisar MP, have since joined the Congress.
JJP chief Ajay Singh Chautala commented on the party's prospects, asserting that no party is likely to win a clear majority, making alliances essential. The JJP has formed an alliance with the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) to contest the Haryana assembly polls, with JJP contesting 70 out of 90 seats. Haryana will vote on October 5, with results declared on October 8.
