Ahead of the crucial assembly elections in the Union Territory, the Congress on Wednesday unveiled its chargesheet titled 'Kya khoya, kya paya Jammu and Kashmir chargesheet sab kuch khoya, kuch nahi paya,' taking a direct swipe at the BJP. The document charges the ruling party with betrayal over issues including unemployment, agriculture, education, health, and the delayed restoration of statehood.
Targeting Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Congress accused him of suppressing the voice of J&K's residents. The statement claimed, 'An unelected Lieutenant Governor (LG), appointed from Delhi, holds all power and, despite promises, the restoration of statehood has been denied to the proud people of J&K, treating them as second-class citizens.'
The chargesheet presents an alarming picture: the allocation of local resources and jobs to outsiders, skyrocketing prices, subpar healthcare and education, and rampant corruption. 'For the past five years, J&K has been ruled directly by an LG appointed by the Centre, making the BJP responsible for the widespread looting of state resources, rampant corruption, record unemployment, and unprecedented price rise,' said the Congress, further highlighting a 15% rise in crimes against women and a severe electricity crisis.
