Gaza Schoolgirl's Hope for Education Amidst War

In the heart of war-torn Gaza, 12-year-old Rama Abu Seif yearns for the return to her classroom that has now become a temporary home for families displaced by conflict. Tragically, Rama's educational aspirations have been put on hold as her schoolbooks are used for kindling, and her school bag is repurposed to carry essentials in case of emergency evacuations.

Rama missed her sixth-grade year and is also deprived of seventh grade due to the raging war between Israel and Hamas. Reflecting on her lost years, she shared, "Children my age and younger all want to return to our schools, study, and play, but that chapter seems forever closed due to the war."

With Gaza in ruins from persistent Israeli bombardment, over 625,000 school-aged children have no prospects of returning to regular classroom learning anytime soon. Schools have succumbed to explosions or been repurposed to house the displaced. As fighting continues, millions like Rama are left with mere memories of better days in the once lively Gaza.
