Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Wednesday sparked a controversy in the Assembly with his remarks that BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut avoided visiting disaster-hit areas during the rains to protect her makeup.
Taking a dig at the Mandi MP, Negi said she shed 'crocodile tears' while other lawmakers stayed overnight to aid the affected.
Negi's remarks came after Kangana shared images of her visit to the flood-hit region, prompting backlash from the state BJP, which criticized the minister for 'insulting woman-power.' Later, Negi clarified it was just a jibe and not an insult. This incident occurred after the cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh's districts, which resulted in over 32 deaths and significant property damage.
