The death toll from unprecedented torrential downpours and floods in Andhra Pradesh surged to 32, with relief camps now sheltering 45,369 evacuees, officials reported on Wednesday.
NTR district, housing Vijayawada, bore the brunt of the disaster, recording 24 deaths, while Guntur and Palnadu reported seven and one fatalities, respectively, revealed an official communiqué.
An inter-ministerial team from the Central government is set to visit the flood-hit districts of Krishna, NTR, and Guntur on Thursday to engage directly with the victims.
