Congress MP A Bimol Akoijam has lashed out at the Centre, accusing the government of being complicit in the Manipur crisis and likening its response to the laughter Draupadi faced in the Mahabharat. He criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's indifference to the state's suffering, despite ongoing violence for the past 15 months.

Akoijam argued that the Prime Minister's unwillingness to visit Manipur is an insult to the state's residents, who are Indian citizens. He emphasized that the presence of 60,000 central government troops has not quelled the violence, thus necessitating Modi's intervention to resolve the crisis.

Reacting to remarks by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Akoijam labeled him a 'rubber stamp' for the central government. He also dismissed Singh's promises of restoring peace within six months, citing numerous contradictory statements. Akoijam stressed the serious nature of the crisis, especially with the recent use of drones in violent attacks.
