In a significant political shift, Haryana MLA Devender Singh Babli, elected on the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) ticket, has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This move comes as the ruling party aims to strengthen its position in the state ahead of the impending assembly elections.
Former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar's government previously included Babli as a minister. The BJP may field him in the forthcoming elections, scheduled for October 5, with votes to be counted on October 8. Babli expressed confidence in the BJP's development-centric agenda, predicting a third-term victory for the party in Haryana.
In addition to Babli, two other leaders, Sunil Sangwan and Sanjay Kablana, have also joined the BJP. Sunil Sangwan, whose father is a former Haryana minister, has left government service, signaling a likely candidacy. Kablana, like Babli, was part of the JJP. The BJP is optimistic that these inductions will help solidify its relationship with the influential Jat community in the state.
