Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar stated on Wednesday that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) does not need to declare a chief ministerial candidate ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls. According to Pawar, the MVA's CM candidate will be chosen based on the number of seats each party secures.
The comments came following Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray's recent call for announcing the CM candidate in advance. However, Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray confirmed that there is no internal tussle within the MVA over the CM post.
Pawar, speaking from Kolhapur, urged the MVA to finalize seat sharing and start campaign efforts as soon as possible, also suggesting that additional parties like the Peasants and Workers Party, CPI, and CPM be included in discussions.
