Janata Dal (United) spokesperson K C Tyagi, whose outspoken nature often amplified differences between his party and ally BJP, has stepped down from his role.
According to a statement released on Sunday, JD(U) President and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has appointed Rajiv Ranjan Prasad as the new national spokesperson. Tyagi attributed his resignation to personal reasons in a letter to Kumar, noting that his involvement in other works made it difficult to do justice as a spokesperson.
Despite stepping down, Tyagi will continue serving as the party's political advisor. Party sources indicated his frequent public comments on various issues, ranging from the Uniform Civil Code to the Palestinians' plight, were seen as counterproductive to BJP-JD(U) relations. Tyagi's senior role and media presence had given him significant influence, sometimes contrary to the party's broader strategy.
