BJP leader Dilip Ghosh launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, condemning her inability to protect women's safety amidst an alleged molestation incident involving a minor girl at Howrah Government Hospital. Ghosh questioned Banerjee's leadership, stating, "Despite being a woman CM, she cannot protect or respect women."

The incident surfaced while West Bengal was already grappling with the protests over the rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. On Sunday, HGH Superintendent Narayan Chattopadhyay confirmed the molestation claims, revealing that an FIR was lodged and the accused detained.

"Out of the people detained during the protest, 9 are here. I came to meet them. There will be an FIR in the court tomorrow," Ghosh assured. He highlighted that similar incidents were occurring across the state, citing cases involving minors aged 7 and 13 in Howrah. Following the protests, BJP workers demanded the immediate resignation of the HGH superintendent, holding him accountable for the security lapses.

Chattopadhyay clarified that due to ongoing repairs in the CT scan room, the accused, a private-public partner employee, had taken advantage of the situation, leading to a molestation attempt during the victim's CT scan. He stressed that security measures had been reinforced for the victim and her family. BJP State Secretary Umesh Rai echoed calls for the superintendent's resignation, labeling the incident as a reflection of deeper systemic failures in patient safety.
