Three Israeli police officers were killed by Palestinian militants in a southern West Bank attack on Sunday. This incident occurred amidst heightened Israeli military raids, predominantly in northern urban refugee camps. Israeli forces have been engaged in daily exchanges of fire with militants since the Gaza conflict's onset.
The Khalil al-Rahman Brigade claimed responsibility for the assault, with Hamas commending it as a "natural response" to the ongoing Gaza war and issuing calls for additional actions. Over 650 Palestinians have lost their lives in the West Bank, primarily during Israeli military operations. Casualties include militants, civilians, and protesters.
Concurrently, there has been a rise in both settler violence against Palestinians and Palestinian attacks on Israelis. The Israeli occupation of territories since the 1967 Mideast war has left 3 million Palestinians in the West Bank under a challenging Israeli military rule, with the Western-backed Palestinian Authority holding limited control in certain areas.
