Israeli and U.S. officials confirmed the recovery of six hostages' bodies, including that of Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, in Gaza. President Joe Biden said on Saturday that Israeli forces recovered the bodies in a tunnel under Rafah. The White House issued a statement expressing Biden's devastation and outrage.

The Israeli military announced that the bodies of Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi, and Ori Danino had been returned to Israel. In contrast, Gaza's health ministry reported at least 40,691 Palestinians killed and 94,060 injured since Israel's military offensive began on October 7.

Violence erupted following a Hamas attack on Israel, which left 1,200 dead and around 250 taken hostage. Clashes have since intensified in the West Bank, particularly in Jenin, with Israeli troops carrying out expansive raids. Goldberg-Polin, who was captured at a music festival, was one of the recovered hostages.

Biden praised Goldberg-Polin's parents for their resilience and promised that Hamas leaders would face consequences. Vice President Kamala Harris condemned Hamas's brutality and affirmed the administration's commitment to securing the release of all remaining hostages. Biden remains hopeful for a ceasefire agreement, indicating ongoing negotiations.
