The Congress on Friday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting violence-stricken Manipur, questioning why he can travel globally as a peacemaker but not address domestic issues.

Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary in-charge communications, said Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has lost credibility and the situation under his leadership is dire. Ramesh highlighted that despite promises, Manipur remains in turmoil 16 months after the assembly elections.

Ramesh urged PM Modi to visit Manipur, emphasizing that it is crucial for reconciliation and peace. Ethnic violence, particularly between the Meitei and Kuki communities, has led to over 200 deaths since May of the previous year.
