Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has lashed out at his West Bengal counterpart, Mamata Banerjee, for allegedly making divisive and negative remarks about the coastal state. Majhi's criticisms were rooted in Banerjee's comments following the tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor in a Kolkata hospital.
Majhi stated that Banerjee's comments were vindictive and urged her to refrain from making such statements without providing justice for the victim. 'Odisha is a peaceful state,' he remarked, questioning Banerjee's authority to comment on Odisha's communal harmony.
The incident has ignited nationwide protests demanding justice for the deceased doctor. Majhi further accused Banerjee of failing to protect women in her state and prioritizing divisive rhetoric over women's safety. 'This effort will never be fulfilled. The people will give a befitting reply,' Majhi asserted.
